Bajwani’s Tral lacks sports facilities, players demand completion of work on stadiums | KNO

Pulwama, Nov 20 (KNO): Lack of basic facilities at the sports ground situated at Bajwani in Tral is causing distress to players. Several athletes from Tral thanked the government for constructing Indoor sports stadium. But they said work on cricket and football stadiums has not been completed so far. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), despite being a historic ground, players from every nook and corner of Kashmir are coming to play here but they suffer in absence of facilities, they said. Kaiser Ahmad, a local said that work on football stadium has left midway while cricket stadium needs immediate leveling, space for dug out, seating arrangements and washroom facilities He said that the valley is facing the nuisance of drug addiction which is mainly due to lack of recreational opportunities given to youth and development of such playgrounds are very vital to keep them away from drugs. Mehraj Ahmad another player said that several times officials visited the ground and assured that it will be transformed into a proper stadium but nothing has been done so far. He added that the ground is lying in dilapidated condition and there is no toilet, washroom facilities, no fencing, no proper leveling, no water and electricity facilities available amid the claims that lakhs have been spent on the ground. Several players said the government must investigate where the money was spent. They said that due to unbalanced leveling, players most often suffer injuries while playing at the stadium. Players said that if this ground was developed on modern lines, it would help players to nourish their talent and prove their mettle at mega stages—(KNO)
